These days, "thin-wall" is generally defined by portable electronics parts having a wall thickness less than 1 mm even 0.1mm. For large automotive parts, "thin" may mean 2 mm. In any case, thinner wall sections bring changes in processing requirements: higher pressures and speeds, faster cooling times, and modifications to part-ejection and gating arrangements. Delrin®, a homopolymer acetal, is also manufactured and stocked in rod and plate. Delrin® is ideal for small diameter, thin-walled bushings that benefit from the additional strength and rigidity of homopolymer acetal.
UHMWPE is a subset of the thermoplastic polyethylene. It has extremely long chains resulting in a very tough material, with high impact strength. Its coefficient of friction is comparable to that of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) but it has better abrasion resistance.
